Qualifications/Courses attended:

undergraduate Podiatry degree, Use of lasers in podiatry, Electro-surgery in Podiatry, Basic Life support, Immediate Life support, Anaphylaxis in clinical practice, Diabetes Masterclass, Sports Injuries and their treatment, Foot Mobilisation, Dermatology in Podiatry, Biomechanics - basics and advanced (Langer), Pharmacology update for Podiatrists (Prescription only Medicines 2008), AO Fixation Course,  Rearfoot Cadaveric Surgery (Warwick Conference 2011) and recently awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in theory of Podiatric Surgery.

Durham School of Podiatric Medicine, 1993.

Where do you work?

Part-time in the practice - two days a week clinically, one day a week week as the MD and Chairman.

I also work two days a week at the West Berkshire Community Hospital (Thatcham) in the Podiatric Surgery Unit (outpatients and day case Podiatric Surgery) to gain experience in Podiatric Surgery.


I am a Mentor for the Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists mentoring Podiatrists who have been out of clinical practice for more than 3 years and who wish to regain their professional registration (clinical and academic mentoring), undergraduate Podiatry students and work placements for youths seeking employment through Job Centre Plus.


What are your career interests?

Podiatric day surgery (everything from bunions to tendon transfers to removal of skin lesions), Sports Podiatry and Biomechanics including Video Gait Analysis, provision of orthoses, general podiatry practice, diagnostic and interventional ultrasound, continual professional development.


What are your research interests?

For his undergraduate Degree he studied transdermal patches and their efficacy in smoking cessation compared to other smoking cessation methods.


I am currently part of  team designing a study to investigate how the differing lengths of 1st metatarsal bones affect the big toe joint and forefoot and how that affects development of hallux valgus and hallux rigidus.


What do you like best about the practice?

The people - patients and staff! It’s a challenge every week, sometimes frustrating but never boring.


When did you join the practice?

At the start - 18 years ago!


What do you like doing in your spare time?

I don’t have much spare time as I am also studying to be a Podiatric Surgeon but when I’m free I like to travel, I’m a passionate yacht sailor, I snowboard and love to socialise with friends and family. Life is for living is definitely my motto and I work hard and play hard.
