Mr Head halfway down
Mr Short making it look easy |
|
On Sunday October 14th 2001, friends, family and staff took part in an abseil to raise vital funds. The event took place at the fire station tower in Hertford and was followed by a nerve calming drink in the nearby pub!
Mr Head organised for a team of 14 to represent the practice following the death of his Great Aunt in September 2001 from breast cancer.
On the day £11,000 was raised in total with our team donating over £2500. Many thanks to the patients who gave so generously to this wonderful cause and all the members of the team who included: Julian Head, Caroline Head, Tim Head, Kelsey Short, Sue Leonida, Chloe Leonida, John Butler, Jeanette Millard, Helen Offord, Hayley Beezer, Taney Tribe, June Ncube, Bule Ndamase, Jacqui Tshababelala.
Although breast cancer survival rates have increased this year to 70%, the disease is still the largest killer of women in the UK. The numbers of men affected has increased slightly. Much more research needs to be carried out and the cancer research campaign relies entirely on charitable donations.
For those who would like to continue supporting us in this worthwhile cause all clinics now have collection boxes in the reception areas. |
